JESSY ABRAHAM

SECRETARY FOR INFORMATION, COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY - SPOKESPERSON

Jessy Abraham is a legal scholar at the University of Namibia, a dynamic advocate for transformative policy development and intergenerational dialogue. Her trajectory in youth representation began in 2019 when she pioneered youth advocacy as a Junior Councillor in the Swakopmund Junior Town Council, where she facilitated intergenerational dialogue and championed the integration of youth perspectives into municipal governance frameworks. Jessy was then elected Deputy Junior Mayor from 2020 to 2021, where she refined her diplomatic acumen while architecting innovative approaches to youth participation in local governance structures. As Secretary of the SheLeads Namibia UNAM Branch in 2023, Jessy administered transformative initiatives empowering female students while fostering inclusive leadership development within academic institutions. Her tenure as President of Random Acts of Kindness (RAKS) UNAM Branch was marked by advocacy for mental health accessibility, strategically dismantling social constructs that position mental health as a privilege rather than a necessity.

Jessy's trajectory within NANSO started as support staff to Acting Education, Training & Research Officer for the Khomas Regional Executive Committee, to Vice Chairperson of the same committee, before ascending to her current role as Secretary of Information, Communications & Technology and National

Spokesperson. As the vibrant voice of Namibian students, learners, and trainees, she articulates NANSO's mandate while providing dynamic youth representation that bridges traditional advocacy with contemporary social movements, embodying both diplomatic finesse and strategic youth radicalism.

Jessy's homegrown expertise in multilateral policy frameworks is exemplified through her appointment to the National Advisory Council on Education (NACE) by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture. Here, she leverages her passion for comprehensive policy review to influence educational transformation at both regional and national levels. Additionally, Jessy serves as a member of the Khomas Regional Education Forum under the Regional Education Directorate, where she continues to shape educational policy discourse. As Project Coordinator for the Active Youth Organisation (AYO), a youth-led organisation towards the localization of SDGs, Jessy works towards localizing global frameworks, translating international development objectives into actionable national strategies. This strategic positioning enables her to integrate SDG advocacy across her various leadership roles, creating synergistic approaches to achieving both Agenda 2030 and the African Union's Agenda 2063.
