Access to Quality Education for all.

IMG_1544.jpg

NANSO’s main objective remains and is for all learners, students, and trainees with access to quality education in Namibia. Access to education is not only a NANSO advocacy pillar but a constitutional aspiration guaranteed in the Namibian Constitution in Article 20(1) that guarantees that ALL persons have the right to education.

This means:

● Quality basic education - Our foundation and the gateway to Education
● Quality Tertiary education - Advancing knowledge and Research
● Quality Vocational training - Practical skills development

For this right to be meaningful:

● The government must ensure all educational needs are met to ensure quality education
● Proper resources must be provided that will maintain and advance the quality of Education
● Supportive policies and regulations must exist to advance the quality of education
We believe: Education at all levels is key to national development.
Our commitment then remains to make quality education accessible to everyone within the borders of Namibia.

STUDENT ACCOMMODATION REFORM

1R1A7972.jpg

Student Accommodation remains a pertinent issue for students at institutions of higher learning. The student accommodation shortage affects thousands, many face:

● Inflated rental fees
● Substandard living conditions
● Far distances from campus

BUT... Victory for student voices!

After consistent NANSO advocacy, government has heard us:

● The construction of the Student Village as promised to us in the 2022 financial year is back on track!
● Architectural plans are completed
● The Student Village will accommodate up to 3 000 students!

NANSO applauds the Namibian Government in that regard and look forward to the timely completion of the village.

BUT, on student accommodation, it doesn’t just end there!

NANSO further advocates and calls for:

Regulated private accommodation fees and the setting of minimum standards for student housing.

Sustainable Higher Education Funding

IMG_1527.jpg

The current reality is that…

● Many talented students can't afford higher education
● Government funding isn't guaranteed long-term
● The Namibian child cannot access tertiary education due to financial barriers

Our solution: THE EDUCATION LEVY

Education levy = Investment in Namibia's future

What is it and why does it matter?

● It will make higher education affordable
● It will ensure education benefits from our nation's mineral wealth
● It creates sustainable, consistent funding

As NANSO we remain clear that…

● No student should be left behind
● Namibia's resources must benefit its youth

The commodification of education ENDS with us!

IMG_5148.jpg

One Learner, One Tablet!

One School, One Network!

Technology lies at the nexus of opportunity and innovation. Yet:

● Many schools lack basic ICT infrastructure
Digital divide widens educational gaps
● Our learners are left behind in the digital age

Our BOLD Vision:

● Universal digital literacy for ALL learners
● Modern ICT infrastructure in EVERY school
● Beyond textbooks - into the digital future

Why it matters:

● Enables independent learning & research
● Prepares students for the digital economy
● Promotes innovation & collaboration

Our demand is clear: Digital inclusion in schools must be COMPULSORY, not a privilege

The future is digital - no learner must be left offline!

Disability friendliness of learning institutions.

IMG_4328.jpg

What current barriers are our learners, students and trainees with disabilities facing?

Inaccessible lecture halls and classrooms
Limited facilities for wheelchairs and lack of specialised resources
Inadequate support for visually impaired learners, students and trainees

We Want!

• Immediate infrastructure upgrades
• Strict adherence to accessibility standards
• Ministry directive on inclusive facilities

Remember
Disability ≠ Inability

Our Pledge is that we won't rest until every student can access every classroom/lecture hall, every resource, every opportunity.

Accessibility = Equality

Integration of Early Childhood Development into the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture.

NANSORALLY(1500of1519).jpg

NANSO calls for Integration!

The current crisis is that..

• Early Childhood Development oversight is misplaced under the Ministry of Gender, Equality & Child Welfare
• There is no standardised curriculum
• There is a lack of trained educators for Early Childhood Development

Our Demand:
Fully integrate Early Childhood Education(ECE) into the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture!

Quality early education shapes futures and every child deserves the best start. Therefore it is imperative that the Government through the Ministry of Education, Arts & Culture invest in professional ECE educators, a standardised quality curriculum and proper educational oversight.

The future of our nation starts with our youngest learners!
