THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
As provided for in Article 12 of our governing document — the Constitution of NANSO — the National Executive Committee (NEC), among others, (a) formulates and executes our by-laws, policies and programmes of action, (b) administers our finances, (c) appoints, when necessary, technical staff members and ad-hoc committees, and (d) institutes, defends or abandon legal proceedings on our behalf, in particular, and young people in Namibia, in general.
Elected at the 18th National Students Congress in July 2024,
the current National Executive Committee is as detailed below:
DORTHEA NANGOLO
PRESIDENT
Dorthea Nangolo is the current President of the Namibia National Students Organization (NANSO). She also serves as the Vice President of the Southern African Students Union (SASU) and Chairperson of the Congress of the Commonwealth Students Association, where she represents the voice of students at regional and international levels, advocating for equity, access, and quality in education.
LOIDE IYALOO SHINDJELE
ACTING DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL RESPONSIBLE FOR ADMINISTRATION
Loide Iyaloo Shindjele is a grace-driven and community rooted young leader who currently serves as the Acting Deputy Secretary General of the Namibia National Students Organization responsible for Admin (NANSO). Her journey in NANSO began at branch level in 2022, where she served as Educational Officer, Vice Chairperson, and later as Chairperson of the UNAM Main Campus Branch. Her growth through these ranks reflects a deep commitment to student centered leadership, collaborative problem solving, and the kind of representation that prioritizes action over applause.
JESSY ABRAHAM
SECRETARY FOR INFORMATION, COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY - SPOKESPERSON
Jessy Abraham is a legal scholar at the University of Namibia, a dynamic advocate for transformative policy development and intergenerational dialogue. Her trajectory in youth representation began in 2019 when she pioneered youth advocacy as a Junior Councillor in the Swakopmund Junior Town Council, where she facilitated intergenerational dialogue and championed the integration of youth perspectives into municipal governance frameworks.
JEROME !NANUSEB
ACTING SECRETARY FOR TERTIARY EDUCATION
Jerome !Nanuseb is the Acting Secretary for Tertiary Education on the National Executive Committee of the Namibia National Students Organization (NANSO). He is a Computer Science student specializing in Software Engineering at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). From the mighty Erongo Region, Jerome’s student activism journey began within the NANSO NUST Branch, where he first served as the Education, Research, and Training Officer. His leadership trajectory saw him rise to Branch Chairperson, followed by his appointment to the Khomas Regional Executive Committee (KREC) as the additional member in early 2025, and most recently, to the National Executive Committee (NEC).
KUUNDJUAUNE KAVARI
ACTING SECRETARY FOR POLITICAL, RESEARCH AND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
Kuundjuaune Kavari is a final-year Accounting student at the University of Namibia, distinguished by a remarkable record of leadership and community engagement. His dedication to youth empowerment and national development is evident through his extensive experience in various roles. Kuundjuaune’s leadership journey includes serving as the acting Regional Chairperson of NANSO (Namibia National Students Organization) Khomas region and previously as the Regional Vice Chairperson of NANSO Erongo region.
JUNIAS HAUFIKU
ACTING ALTERNATE MEMBER
Junias Haufiku is currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering at the Namibia University of Science and Technology. He has a strong belief in servant leadership, serving others, mostly in helping others fight any barriers that impede on their academic journeys.
PHILLIPUS HAMUNYELA
VICE PRESIDENT
Phillipus Hamunyela is a purpose-driven student leader, currently serving as the Vice President of the Namibia National Students Organization (NANSO). An Accountant in making by profession, Phillipus brings a wealth of experience in youth mobilization, having served as Vice President of the University of Namibia's Student Representative Council, and holding key positions within NANSO's National Executive Committee — including Secretary for Mobilization, Recruitment, and Special Programs.
DONNA GAMATHAM
DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL RESPONSIBLE FOR RECRUITMENT AND MOBILIZATION
Donna Gamatham is a passionate legal scholar and youth advocate, currently serving as the Deputy Secretary General of the Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO). In this role, she leads key initiatives in recruitment, mobilization, and special programs aimed at empowering Namibian students. She also serves as the Regional Coordinator for Southern Africa at the Young African Leaders Forum (YALF).
JADEN ASHIPALA
SECRETARY FOR LEGAL AFFAIRS
Jaden Ashipala is a lawyer by profession who holds a bachelor of laws, honours degree from the University of Namibia. Jaden is currently enrolled with the Ministry of Justice, Justice Training Centre pursuant for his admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court in the Republic of Namibia. Hailing from Tsumeb and currently based in Windhoek, Jaden is actively involved in student leadership. He serves as the Secretary for Legal Affairs and previously held the position of Secretary for Basic Education.
LAVINIA T. LEONARD
SECRETARY FOR BASIC AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
Lavinia T. Leonard is a servant leader and Medicinal Chemistry scholar at the University of Namibia. Her leadership journey in NANSO began in 2017 as Secretary of Education and Research for the Oshikoto Regional Executive Committee, and later as the Regional ICT and Communications Officer for Khomas in 2023. Currently, she serves as Secretary for Basic and Secondary Education in the National Executive Committee of NANSO
SALOMO KAMBANDA
SECRETARY FOR SPORTS AND CULTURE
Salomo Kambanda is a passionate youth leader and student advocate whose journey in leadership began within the Namibian National Students Organisation (NANSO), where he served as Secretary for the Otjozondjupa Regional Executive Committee (2022–2023) and later as Acting Vice Chairperson in 2023. His
commitment to student development and empowerment continued at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST).
SECILIA AMBUNDA
SECRETARY GENERAL
Secilia Ambunda is a passionate and purpose-driven young leader, currently in her third year pursuing a Law degree at the University of Namibia. With a strong commitment to social justice, education advocacy, and community upliftment, she serves as the Secretary General of the Namibia National Students Organization (NANSO), where she plays a key role in championing the rights and interests of Namibian students across the country.
NONDUMISO NGWENYA
SECRETARY FOR GENDER, DISABILITY, MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES AND SOCIAL WELFARE
Nondumiso Ngwenya, a final year student pursuing her undergraduate degree in Social Work (Honors) at the University of Namibia's Main Campus, is a community development enthusiast, a game changer and an embodiment of excellence as displayed by her work in advocating for the UN's Sustainable, Development Goals, in her works as a youth and student leader and in her voluntary/charitable works.
JAVELLIN NEHOYA
ALTERNATE MEMBER
Javellin Nehoya is a Bachelor of Education (Mathematics and Physical Science) student at the University of Namibia. She currently serves as an Alternate Member to the NANSO National Executive Committee, elected during the 2024 NANSO Congress, following her election earlier that year as the Oshana Regional Chairperson of NANSO.
