DORTHEA NANGOLO
PRESIDENT
Dorthea Nangolo is the current President of the Namibia National Students Organization (NANSO). She also serves as the Vice President of the Southern African Students Union (SASU) and Chairperson of the Congress of the Commonwealth Students Association, where she represents the voice of students at regional and international levels, advocating for equity, access, and quality in education.
Nangolo holds an LLB Honours Degree from the University of Namibia and is currently pursuing her admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court of Namibia through the Justice Training Centre under the Ministry of Justice.
Her leadership journey began within the ranks of NANSO as the Political and Internal Relations Officer for the Oshana Regional Executive Committee. She went on to lead the organization's largest branch, the University of Namibia Branch, before being elected as National Spokesperson at the 2022 National Students Congress. During her term, she revitalized NANSO's media and public engagement strategy by relaunching the Students' Voice Newsletter as Editor, producing the organization's first historical documentary, and initiating the first-ever NANSO Song Album, highlighting the cultural and political history of the student movement. As Spokesperson, she also launched the NANSO ICT Package, which included the redesign of the official website, development of a brand manual, and establishment of an internal communications policy.
In 2024, Nangolo was elected as the 22nd President of NANSO, bringing with her a renewed vision of disciplined, modern, and responsive student activism rooted in the legacy of the 1984 founding generation. She also currently serves as Vice
Chairperson of the National Advisory Council on Education, contributing meaningfully to national education policy formulation and review.
Dorthea Nangolo is a firm believer in justice, transformation, and the power of young people to lead change. Her leadership continues to shape the direction of the student movement, grounded in the belief that access to quality education is a non-negotiable right for every Namibian learner.
